Block Play Professional Development Slides

This Block Play Professional Development slide deck can be viewed and used to consider the various components that go into designing, managing, and growing effective construction and block play learning experiences for young children.  It is most useful when teachers pause at the beginning of the slide show to look closely at their current block area and reflect on what its strengths are – what is working well – and what might need to change or evolve.  Then, with a lens toward change, consider the many examples for creating and organizing space, considering the developmental stages of block play, and extending and expanding children’s block play.
